First Week in the MTC!!

Sawadii khaa!

Well I've made it through my first week in the MTC! I just got to say, that MTC life is CRAZY. We literally study the language or gospel doctrine all day. We only have a teacher teaching us Thai three hours a day. Other than that, we don't have a teacher so I'm really trying to discipline myself and stay focused. We eat breakfast at 7:30, lunch at 11:30 and dinner at 4:30. So we don't eat after dinner for like 14 hours! Luckily I brought snacks! The MTC food is fine, I've literally eaten a salad almost every single meal (besides breakfast, that's gross). My companion is Sidtee Johnson. She's a fun girl, we get along pretty well! I've never realized how much I like being alone though until I had to be with someone 24/7. Cause you know me, I like to do things on my own and not go by what someone else is doing. But it's really teaching me how to be patient and not only think about myself. It's really hard but luckily I've started out with an easy going companion.

So when I said goodbye to you guys I went and got my name tag and as soon as I walked out the doors, I heard someone screaming my name. It didn't even take me a second to realize it was Lauren! We both ran to each other and started crying, people were laughing at us. It was really funny! She's literally right down the hall though, so I see her every single night before I go to bed. I'm going to be really sad when she leaves!

I really haven't gotten homesick. I think the mornings are the hardest because I just want to be home but most of the time I don't really even have time to think about home! I miss you guys all the time though! They told us though, that the love we have for our families, we should project that out to the people we will be teaching. So they said it's good if we miss home and our families. I guess it will be helpful for me out in the field! I love my zone though! There are the Phii (older) Thai's that got here Dec. 31 and we're the Nong (younger) Thai's. The Phii Thai's don't leave until the beginning of March, which I'll be really sad about! We have a lot of people in our district (which is all the other Nong Thai's). They had to split up our district because we're so big! Lauren and everyone has said that the speakers that have come have all been talking about Thailand because there is so much progression in the church happening there. I'm so excited that I get to be apart of it! We have an investigator (that can supposedly only speak Thai) and we teach him everyday. I said a prayer and taught half the lesson in Thai without relying so much on what I had written down. If I rely on the spirit more when I'm teaching a lesson, it goes so much more smoothly and I can actually remember more Thai that I've learned. The power of tongues is real, it's amazing! And I've only been here 5 days!
So yeah, I made it to Sunday which everyone says is the hardest part. Sunday and Monday's are my favorite days now because Monday's are my P-day so I got to go to the temple this morning and never have I felt the spirit so strongly than I did this morning. I've needed a lot of calming down and that definitely helped me! And Sunday's, we just go to relief society with all the other sisters and then sacrament meeting with our zone. Then we take a temple walk for about an hour which is so nice since I spend most of the week in a classroom. We also have a devotional on Sunday's and then they play movies we get to pick from. Me and Sidtee Johnson went and watched Elder Bednar's talk The Character of Christ. If you have not heard that talk, I recommend listening to it. It literally is almost a life changing talk.
Well fun facts for you guys, everyone calls me Sister Carrillo (which feels so weird because that's you Mom) with an accent. I just learned to stop correcting them. Everyone says that the Americanized version isn't as fun to say hahaha. I LOVE study time! I couldn't done this at home but here I'm not distracted so I can just sit and think and it's amazing the things you find in the scriptures! Oh and sorry Taeli for stealing your toothpaste. You might think I did it on purpose but I really didn't! I grabbed it by accident. Sorry!
Well that's about all I have! I kinda love being here, everyone is so nice and friendly! I've never felt the spirit so strongly and for so long in my life!  What's going on with all you guys? Anything fun? I can't wait to hear about how Taeli's state game goes Thursday, tell her and Destiny (she forgot to give me my picture) good luck for me! I wish I could be there! I love all you guys so much! I'll try and send pictures later! Choog dii!

Love,
Sidtee Carrillo
